Client Deadline You Cannot Meet: Give Two Options and Recommend One

Published September 21, 2026

How to Use a Script

Four steps:

  1. Watch the video once.
  2. Copy the script. Change the names, dates, and numbers to match your project.
  3. Say it out loud until it sounds like you. Use the practice sheet if the page has one.
  4. Use it in the real conversation, in the email or on the call.

The Script

Word for word, as said in the video. Copy it and change the names, dates, and numbers to match your project.

Thanks for the call. I understand you need the electrical design package by April 5th. Based on the scope we reviewed, that timeline is not workable for our team.

Two options.

  1. A. Deliver a preliminary layout by April 5th, then the full package by April 12th.
  2. B. Deliver the complete package by April 10th with full coordination notes included.

I recommend Option B because you get accurate, final documentation the first time. Let me know which direction works for your schedule.
